This has been a tough year for our little ones, with so much change and disruption to their lives. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and a great reminder to start talking to our children about the state of their mental health (especially the little ones who are learning to manage feelings and situations out of their control). As a society, we are learning to normalize speaking about our own mental health and seek support from friends, family, and professionals. Below is a list of children and YA books about anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, ADHD, and managing emotions to help us begin these critical conversations with our little ones.

We hope that on this day, you celebrate our Mother Earth in an environmentally friendly way. Whether it’s a walk at a local park or beach, planting flowers, going for a neighborhood clean-up, or simply enjoying a great read, take this time to talk to your children about the importance of taking care of our Earth.

This week is National Library Week! While visits to the library are still limited in most communities, most libraries have adapted in ways to allow for families to continue checking out books. This is American History and should be represented as such. Music, Dance, Science, Technology, Art, Literature, Cooking, Culture, and every single facet of who we are as a nation can be attributed to a powerful Black person.
